The Saint Jean Cap Ferrat peninsula is home to many remarkable properties. One of them is Villa La Voile, designed by the famous architect Sir Norman Foster.
Norman Foster, renowned in the world of high-tech architecture, was born in Manchester in 1935. At the age of 16 he left school to start working. After his military service, however, he decides to study architecture and urban planning at the University of Manchester. Having graduated, he goes on to Yale where he completes his Masters degree in 1962. The current architectural firm of Foster + Partners has over 500 employees.
Foster has won a series of prestigious projects: the impressive HSBC Main Building in Hong Kong, the Reichstag in Berlin, 30 st Mary Axe in London and the Millau Viaduct, to name but a few ……
It is said that the architect has left his mark nearly everywhere in the world. And this is the man who created the extraordinary Villa La Voile at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
Foster designed this house as his own holiday home. On one of the most beautiful spots on Cap Ferrat near the tip of the peninsula, this villa enjoys exceptional panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea.
From a distance, La Voile looks like a big boat that is docked on the peninsula, an image which is further reinforced by the sails that are stretched out above the terraces.
The maritime atmosphere is very present because La Voile offers a beautiful view of the horizon, creating a real connection with nature. The large glass vertical opening in the house guarantees a spectacular panorama, with a seamless transition between inside and outside.
A library, lounge, several spacious terraces, a rooftop swimming pool … .. The villa has 4 floors and an area of 2,015m2. The most important materials are stone and glass. The immaculate white both outside and inside, used especially to reflect the sun in an optimal way, gives La Voile an aura of modern luxury.
The villa is located on the Avenue de la Corniche. If you take the coastal walk around the peninsula you cannot miss it.
